Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Reviewed by James H. Schaeffer (New York)

I bought this player back in November 2008. It 'was my first Blu Ray. E 'in my opinion one of the finest players to watch out there. The display and the blue lighting is beautiful. E 'suitable for my DVR from Direct TV perfectly. The first disc I tried, "For Your Eyes Only" from Fox did not work. There seems to be some problems with Java with it. Other discs play well themselves. The image is good and the sound is ok. A lot of discs take forever to load and the player is quite noisy when loading. The firmware update was a little 'annoyance. I download the update from Samsung to a unit of an inch. Thumb drive is inserted into the back of the device, and everything you need to do is follow the instructions on screen. Fortunately, I never met any of the problems that others have had with the firmware updates. My last "straw" with the reader, also occurred when I tried to play "Crank2" during the last week. The problem with this disc is well documented, but the bottom line is that it could be played on any player, with a little 'editing it. Not so much on the Samsung. I finally the movie to play but was unable to use the special features. I replace that player with a Sony S560 recently. That it played "For Your Eyes Only" and "Crank2" straight out of the box. I simply could not deal with the uncertainty of the BDP-1500 more.

| Review by Mason (Denver, CO) 2010-07-25 If you don't mind loading your blu ray, then waiting ten minutes for it to start, then you'll be fine with this player. If you actually want to start watching a movie when you load it, I would suggest buying the new Sony Blue Ray player. We did and we're now happy. If you need to exit out of the movie and then need to reload it... well I hope you... Read more Panasonic DMP-BD85K WiFi reviews | ||

| Review by Bappy29 (phila, pa) 2010-07-26 Overall, this is a good Blu Ray player and reasonably affordable. However, I have Verizon FIOS TV/phone/internet-bundle, and this Panasonic model has problem connecting wirelessly to the router. Ethernet connection is great, but wireless connection won't work. Tried to change encryption method on the router, but still no go. Will need to call V... Read more Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray reviews | ||

| Review by J. A. Martinez (Colorado, USA) 2010-07-16 If you are someone who needs a fifty inch screen to watch movies on, this machine is not for you. If you are someone with a Blu-Ray collection who travels and wants a way to watch them on the move, keep going. The DMP-B500 has a 10.1 inch screen that operates on a 1024x600 screen resolution. The DMP-B500 does NOT have a native 1080P screen. It is, ... Read more Panasonic DMP-B500 WiFi reviews | ||

| Review by Angus66 (Guntersville, AL) 2010-06-17 Like the first reviewer, this is my first Blu-Ray player. I wanted a quality, no-frills model and I don't need or want internet conectivity at this time. So far, this Blu-Ray player has worked beautifully. I don't know how fast (or slow) other Blu-ray players are, but the Panasonic seems just as speedy (or slow depending on your point of view) as m... | Review by James Liaw (Rockville, Maryland, USA) 2010-02-03 This product (so far) is exactly as advertised. My wife was able to play a DVD from overseas without any issues. This is my first blue-ray player and it hooked up to my Panasonic Viera Plasma in no time at all. Thanks Amazon for saving me $100! It was that much cheaper than going to a popular all-region DVD player seller!... Read more Panasonic DMP-BD60 All reviews | ||
